Voters in the Southern Marin Fire Protection District will pick four directors on Nov. 3. Seven people filed and qualified, according to the Marin County Elections Department.

The candidates

The incumbents are Kurt Chun, Cristine Soto DeBerry, Peter Fleming and Thomas W. Perazzo. The challengers, with the occupations they gave the county, are:

  • Eric Steinhofer, energy consultant
  • Amy Svendberg, small business owner
  • Thomas Clark, retired

The Ark reported that an eighth resident, Nicole Foster, took out papers but did not file.

How it works

The race is at-large. Every voter in the district can pick up to four names, and the four candidates with the most votes win. The Ark counts the fire board among eight Tiburon Peninsula contests that drew more candidates than seats.

How to vote

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Polls and vote centers close at 8 p.m., and mailed ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and arrive within seven days. You can check your registration and ballot status at sos.ca.gov/elections. California lets you register and vote the same day at a vote center.
