Liberty Union runs the high schools in Brentwood, Oakley, Discovery Bay and nearby communities. It also has a $165 million bond on the same ballot. See our Measure X explainer.
The candidates
- Tamara Weber (Incumbent) is the current board president and a longtime Discovery Bay resident. She is the mother of five Liberty Union graduates. Her ballot statement credits the board with gains in math, English and science, a higher graduation rate, dual enrollment serving more than 1,200 students a year, and stronger career technical education pathways.
- Hillary Fairbairn Pedrotti is a retired English teacher. She taught at Liberty and Heritage high schools for 37 years and was LUHSD Teacher of the Year. She was president of LEA, the district’s teachers union, for 10 years. She says she worked with administrators on fiscally responsible contracts. She wants academically appropriate, financially sound programs plus social-emotional support for students.
