The Tamalpais Union High School District board, which governs high schools including Redwood, Tamalpais and Archie Williams, has three seats on the Nov. 3 ballot and seven candidates. Ballotpedia says the district served 4,542 students in five schools in the 2025 school year. Trustee Emily Uhlhorn is not running.
The candidates
- Cynthia C. Roenisch (Incumbent), board president.
- Kevin C. Saavedra (Incumbent). The Ark reports that Saavedra resigned Oct. 9, a day after a judge granted a district parent a three-year civil harassment restraining order against him. His name stays on the ballot because state law bars school board candidates from withdrawing after the 88th day before the election. He told Redwood High's student paper he "would not bet" on taking the seat if reelected. If he wins and declines, the board would have 60 days to appoint someone or call a special election.
- Leslie J. Harlander (Retired Civil Engineer), a former board member.
- Joy Scully Koo (Community Advocate / Parent), who served on the Tam High site council and the Measure G bond oversight commission.
- Maria D. Sandoval (Spanish Teacher).
- Brian A. Sutherland (Constitutional Lawyer / Parent), who wants an AI task force to shape district policy.
- Valerie Wynn (Retired District Teacher), who practiced law in San Francisco for 15 years before teaching.
Endorsements
The Marin Independent Journal editorial board recommended Harlander, Sutherland and Wynn. It wrote that the board has made responsible financial decisions but that "too many in the community feel burned by the behavior of some board members." Bay Ballot's tracker shows Sutherland and Wynn with two guide endorsements each. Voters pick up to three.
