This is not Fremont in Alameda County. Fremont Union High School District runs five high schools, including Cupertino, Homestead, Lynbrook and Monta Vista. It is the district's second election by trustee area since it moved away from at-large voting in 2023. Ballotpedia lists the Area 1 race as canceled because Stanley Kou was the only candidate.
Area 3: Rosa Kim vs. Jason Lin
- Rosa Kim, the board's vice president, has served since 2018 and previously taught and was principal at the Silicon Valley Korean School. She counts wellness centers at all five high schools among her biggest achievements, and wants to move board office hours to community centers or libraries to reach families who don't come to meetings.
- Jason Lin is a future FUHSD parent and business executive who told El Estoque he has helped scale five unicorn companies. He wants more measurement of student outcomes, business internships for students and earlier public involvement in big decisions. He calls himself “an accidental candidate” and says he does not have a formal background in education.
Area 4: Naomi Nakano-Matsumoto vs. Ilanit Eliaz
- Naomi Nakano-Matsumoto has been a trustee since 2018 and is the first Japanese American on the board. She has a social work background, champions wellness centers and extracurriculars, and said the district aims for about 1,400 to 1,500 students per school and is not looking at closing one.
- Ilanit Eliaz declined El Estoque's interview request, so we don't have independently reported details on her platform.
El Estoque reports the teachers association endorsed Kim and Nakano-Matsumoto. Need logistics? See our Santa Clara County voting guide.
