T&T Supermarket opens its San Francisco store at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 2675 Geary Blvd. The store is on the upper level of City Center at Geary and Masonic, in the space Best Buy left in 2017.

SFist reports the store covers 50,000 square feet and will be the first T&T in the United States with a cafe, serving drinks such as black sesame and ube lattes along with house-made pastries like Portuguese egg tarts. Plans also include a hot food bar, a BBQ station, a sushi counter, live seafood and a beauty section.

A long-vacant space

Whole Foods had planned to open in the space, but that effort stalled after years of permitting trouble. T&T CEO Tina Lee told the Chronicle, as quoted by SFist, that she was wary of San Francisco's red tape and credits the city's PermitSF platform with making this the fastest permitting process she has seen in the U.S. Mayor Daniel Lurie called the store a major investment in the city.

Part of a Bay Area push

T&T, founded in Vancouver in 1993, opened its first Bay Area store at San Jose's Westgate Center in June. SFist says stores are also planned in Newark and Millbrae, though both have been pushed back, with Newark now expected in winter 2027.
