Nob Hill has a new hotel bar. The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco opened Bruma, a cocktail lounge inside its landmark 1909 Neoclassical building at 600 Stockton St., on Oct. 12, the date the hotel announced in September and Eater SF listed in its fall openings guide. The name is Spanish for "mist," a nod to the fog that settles over the hill.
The drinks
The cocktail menu is split into four sections, according to the hotel's announcement: World's Edge (bright, citrus-forward drinks), Open Water (layered, globally influenced drinks), Golden City (fruit-driven cocktails built on California produce) and High Ground (martinis and stirred classics). Signature touches include a tableside martini service chilled with liquid nitrogen and a reworked Nob Hill Pisco Punch finished with a pineapple brûlée. There are also low-ABV and nonalcoholic drinks and a list of rare spirits.
The food
The bites menu includes a Dungeness crab roll, a wagyu smash burger, a California poke bowl and Japanese milk bread with cultured seaweed butter, the hotel says. The food and drinks program was developed with Lowder-Tascarella Hospitality.
The room
Design firm Fettle redid the space. Eater SF notes a custom mural that wraps around the whole room; the hotel adds a hand-etched back-bar mirror and the hotel's original fireplace. The lounge seats 80, including the bar.
Weekly events
The hotel lists a Golden Hour Aperitivo on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 6 p.m., live jazz on Fridays from 7 to 10 p.m. and a Latin fusion band on Saturdays from 7 to 10 p.m.
