What Zillow shows
Zillow's Home Value Index puts the typical South San Francisco home at $1,216,286 as of Sept. 30, 2026, up 3.6% from a year earlier. Zillow says homes go pending in about 15 days.
What it means for buyers and sellers
Redfin gives South San Francisco a Compete Score of 92, "most competitive," one of the highest in the Bay Area. The average home sells about 9% over list in around 15 days, and hot homes go about 21% over. With few price cuts and rising sale-to-list ratios, buyers should expect bidding wars on well-priced single-family homes.
Redfin figures cover the three months through September 2026 and compare with the same period a year earlier. Zillow's Home Value Index is a typical-home estimate, not a sale price, so the two numbers measure different things and won't match exactly.
