Solano County's Nov. 3 ballot covers school boards, the community college, fire and irrigation districts. But the Daily Republic reports that nearly two dozen incumbents in those races will get new terms without an election because no one filed against them.
Who returns unopposed
- Vacaville Unified: Nancy Dunn (Area 1), John Jansen (Area 3) and Santiago Serrato (Area 5)
- Solano County Board of Education: Dana Dean (Area 3) and Teresa Lavell (Area 4)
- Solano Community College: Karimah Karah (Area 1), Annie M. Young (Area 2) and Amber M. Cargo-Reed (Area 6)
- Benicia Unified: Amy Hirsh (Area 5)
- Fairfield-Suisun Unified: Kai Eusebio (Area 7)
- Vallejo City Unified: John Fox (Area 5)
- Winters Joint Unified: Carrie Green (Area 2) and Joedy Michael (Area 3)
- Cordelia Fire Protection District: Mark Giugni, Jim Frische and Dave Carpenter
- Solano Irrigation District: John D. Kluge (District 1) and Derrick Lum (District 5)

- Yolo County Board of Education (seats that include parts of Solano): Melissa Moreno (Area 2) and Julian Munoz (Area 5)
A seat with no candidate
No one filed for the vacant Travis Unified School District Trustee Area 1 seat, so it will not be on the ballot. The Board of Trustees will fill it by appointment. The county's election notice says appointments are made when no one files, or too few people file, and no petition for an election is submitted in time.
Contested races
Races with more candidates than seats are still on the ballot. The Daily Republic notes that every Fairfield City Council seat is contested, and that Justin Zollars is challenging two incumbents for Benicia's two open council seats. For Vallejo's contested school board seats, see our Vallejo school board guide.
How to vote
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Polls and vote centers close at 8 p.m., and mailed ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and arrive within seven days. You can check your registration and ballot status at sos.ca.gov/elections. California lets you register and vote the same day at a vote center.
