Vallejo voters have contested Vallejo City Unified School District board races for the first time since 2020. Three candidates are running in Trustee Area 1 and two in Area 3. John Fox has no opponent in Area 5.
Why it matters: The new board will deal with a district budget deficit of about $23 million.
Trustee Area 1 (open seat)
The incumbent, Carlos Flores, is not running.
- Judith Lerner has raised about $6,700 and lent her campaign $2,000. The Vallejo Education Association teachers union gave her $5,000. She is endorsed by the union, the Solano County Democratic Central Committee, the Napa-Solano Central Labor Council and the United Democrats of Southern Solano County.
- Reba "Jill" Brown has reported no fundraising. She is endorsed by the Vallejo chapter of the California School Employees Association.
- Clarence Martin is funding his campaign himself with $2,000. He is endorsed by the Solano Association of Realtors.
Trustee Area 3
- Rizal Aliga has raised about $9,200, the most of any candidate.
- Irene Reynolds has raised about $1,250. The superintendent asked her to change campaign signs that used the district's logo.
All five candidates have raised more than $21,000 combined, according to the Vallejo Sun. More local races are in our 2026 Bay Area election guide.
