Solano County Board of Education Trustee Areas 3, 4 and 6 are on the Nov. 3 ballot, according to the county's notice of election. Area 6, which represents Dixon and southeast Vacaville, has two challengers, the Independent Voice reports: Tamika Hamilton and Kathryn Kedarisetty.
The candidates
- Tamika Hamilton is a Dixon resident involved with nonprofits, according to the Independent Voice. Her campaign website, as quoted by Ballotpedia, describes her as a longtime Dixon resident, a veteran, a mother and a nonprofit leader, and lists priorities including early intervention, mental health and support services, and "making decisions in sunlight, not behind closed doors."
- Kathryn Kedarisetty is an elementary school teacher, the Independent Voice reports. Her campaign site lists collaboration with districts and families, education equity for students in county programs and alternative education, fiscal accountability, and recruiting and retaining educators.
What the county board does
Kedarisetty's site notes that the County Office of Education helps oversee programs and serves students in county-run programs. The county board is separate from local district boards such as Dixon Unified.
