The San Jose Sharks scored three goals in 2 minutes, 50 seconds of the third period to beat the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 at SAP Center on Thursday night, NHL.com reports.
How it happened
Vancouver led 2-0 on goals from Drew O'Connor late in the first period and Liam Ohgren late in the second. Will Smith started the comeback with a power-play goal at 8:00 of the third, after an interference penalty on Vancouver's Jonathan Lekkerimäki, NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Smith tied it at 10:39, one-timing a pass from Macklin Celebrini, and Mason Marchment scored the winner 11 seconds later at 10:50. Yaroslav Askarov made 23 saves. The Sharks improved to 7-6-1 and snapped a two-game losing streak.
What they said
"It was ugly to start… but we came through and got it done," Smith told NBC Sports California. Coach Ryan Warsofsky said the team had been "gripping it really tight" and that the message in the second intermission was to "just go play."
NHL.com notes that it was the Sharks' first multigoal third-period comeback win in regulation since Oct. 23, 2018. Forward Filip Bystedt made his NHL debut after being recalled from the AHL's San Jose Barracuda.
