Apple on Thursday, Oct. 22, added an AI "Intelligent Assistant" to its Pages, Keynote and Numbers apps. It is a beta for Apple Creator Studio subscribers, who pay $12.99 a month.

Why it matters: The Cupertino company is putting AI writing and slide tools behind a paid subscription. The apps themselves stay free.

What it does

  • Pages: starts a first draft, edits and adjusts tone, and generates images and shapes, according to Apple's release notes reported by 9to5Mac.
  • Keynote: generates slides, presenter notes and animations.
  • Numbers: builds formulas and tables and suggests charts.
  • In all three, it can search the web for current information and add it to your file.

The fine print

It works in US English only and needs iOS 27 or later, 9to5Mac reported. The update also adds iPhone Duo support to the three apps, MacRumors found, and the apps briefly disappeared from the App Store before returning.

All users get a new open Keynote Interchange Format (.keyx) that makes it easier to edit presentations in other apps.
