Los Altos holds its first City Council election by district on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. In District 2, former Mayor Lynette Lee Eng faces Anky van Deursen; in District 4, Councilmember Larry Lang is the only candidate.
Why it matters: Only voters who live in Districts 2 and 4 get a council contest on their ballot, the city says. The other three districts vote in 2028.
District 2: an open seat in south Los Altos
- District 2 covers south Los Altos around Grant Park, the Palo Alto Daily Post reported.
- Councilmember Pete Dailey is not running for re-election so he can run for the Valley Water board (our Valley Water District 7 guide).
- Lynette Lee Eng, a former Los Altos mayor, qualified on Aug. 6.
- Anky van Deursen qualified on July 30.
District 4: Lang unopposed
Larry Lang, who represents the area around downtown and the civic center, is running unopposed. A write-in candidate, Roger Heyder, took out papers but did not file, according to the city clerk.
Key facts
- Each of the five districts has about 6,334 residents, the Daily Post reported.
