Oakland diners have one more chance to eat Sarah Kirnon’s cooking before she leaves the Bay Area.
The dinner
Kirnon cooks at Burdell, 4640 Telegraph Ave., on Sunday, Nov. 1, from 5 to 9 p.m. The six-course, family-style meal is $114 per person, which includes tax and a 20% service charge, according to Burdell’s event page. Seats are limited and tables have a strict 90-minute turn time.
KQED listed dishes including roasted boniato with a smoked herring Creole sauce, skillet-fried chicken with Bajan seasoning, cassava dumplings, and oxtails braised in casareep.
Part of the Grandma Series
The dinner is part of Burdell’s “Grandma Series,” in which guest chefs cook family recipes. Earlier guests included Intu-On Kornnawong, Ham El-Waylly and James Syhabout, KQED reported.
A goodbye
Kirnon’s Miss Ollie’s in Old Oakland closed in 2022. She recently finished a monthlong residency at Gold Palm. She plans to move back to Barbados in 2027, KQED said.
