Gizela Ho, who cooked at Rich Table for more than a decade, has signed a lease at 2235 Fillmore St. for her first restaurant, Good Morning 96, the San Francisco Standard reported. The space is the former home of the Japanese restaurant Ten-Ichi, which closed in 2024 after investor Neil Mehta bought the building.
What to expect
The Standard describes Good Morning 96 as a dinner spot rooted in California cuisine with global influences. Ho, who was raised in Guam and has family ties to Hong Kong, plans dishes such as salted duck egg soufflés and stuffed chicken wings, along with what she calls "really fun cocktails."
Made By reports that the plan includes an extensive renovation with a mezzanine for private dining and a kitchen moved toward the center of the room. The restaurant will be closer in size to Rich Table than Ho first imagined. The name refers to 1996, the year her grandfather opened his restaurant in Hong Kong.
When
The Standard says the restaurant will open next year, and Made By says it is planned for midyear 2027.
