Danville voters will elect two at-large Town Council members on Tuesday, Nov. 3, and three candidates qualified, according to the Town of Danville. Voters can pick up to two. The candidates, in ballot order, are Denton Carlson, Pratima Sonavne and incumbent Robert Storer.
Why it matters: Councilmember Karen Stepper is not seeking another term, Patch reported, so at least one new member will join the five-member council. Only three people filed, and the filing period was extended to Aug. 12 because no second incumbent ran.
The candidates
- Robert Storer is a 37-year Danville resident who has been on the council since 2009 and has served three terms as mayor. He has served on the town's Finance Committee and as council liaison to San Ramon Valley Unified. He lists public safety, a balanced budget, open space and support for local schools and businesses as priorities, according to Patch.
- Denton Carlson is a 15-year Danville resident who retired as San Ramon's police chief in December 2025. He was earlier a Contra Costa sheriff's deputy, SWAT commander and detective, and sits on boards including the California Police Chiefs Association and San Ramon Regional Medical Center. He is campaigning on public safety, fiscal responsibility, managed growth and a well-preserved downtown.
- Pratima Sonavne founded the Kurious Kids childcare center and holds a master's in human resource management. She ran for Contra Costa County clerk-recorder in June. Patch reported in August that her campaign site still focused on that race and that emails to her two public addresses bounced.
Key dates
Vote-by-mail ballots went out Oct. 5. The last day to request one is Tuesday, Oct. 27, and the town lists Dec. 3 as the certification deadline. Danville voters will also see the regional transit sales tax, Measure RTM, and SRVUSD trustee races. Next door, San Ramon has a three-way mayor's race: Armstrong vs. Chigbu vs. Ntatsos.
