A Solano County jury on Friday convicted Brian Cruz, 45, of six felony counts of sexually abusing a child in Vacaville, the Solano County District Attorney's Office said, according to the Daily Republic and Bay City News.

Jurors found Cruz guilty of two counts of sexual intercourse with a child 10 or younger, two counts of sexual penetration of a child 10 or younger and two counts of lewd acts on a child under 14.

Prosecutors said Cruz was a trusted family member. The abuse happened between December 2013 and December 2016, when the victim was between 6 and 9 years old.

Cruz faces up to 80 years to life in state prison. He is being held without bail, and sentencing is set for Nov. 13.

The district attorney's office credited Vacaville police Detective Kendra Lopez with the investigation. Deputy District Attorney Hunter Burnette prosecuted the case.
