Union City voters in City Council Districts 2, 3 and 4 elect one council member each on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. Eight candidates qualified, and District 4 has a four-way race.
Why it matters: Three of the council's seats are on the ballot, alongside Measure II, the utility users tax extension. New terms begin Dec. 8, 2026 and run to Dec. 10, 2030, according to the city.
District 2
- Jaime Patino, Councilmember/Finance Manager
- Victor Lopez Pulido, Legal Advocate/Translator
District 3
- Jeff Wang, Incumbent
- Cheris Crocker-Root, Financial Asset Manager
Two other people took out nomination papers for District 3 but did not file by the Aug. 7 deadline, the city clerk's filing list shows.
District 4
- Sarabjit Kaur Cheema, High School Teacher
- Qasim Lodhi, Software Engineer/Father
- Vipan S. Bajwa, City Commissioner/Accountant
- Ann Yap-Jequinto, Planning Commissioner/Caregiver
Names are listed in ballot order with the ballot designations each candidate filed. Union City limits council members to three consecutive terms in the same office.
