Stanford women's basketball tips off its 2026-27 season Monday, Nov. 2, against Arizona in the Hall of Fame Series at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
How to watch
Tipoff is 10:30 a.m. Pacific on CBS Sports Network. Radio is on GoStanford.com, the Stanford Athletics app and Learfield's Varsity Network.
What to know
- Stanford is 40-12 all-time in season openers and has won eight in a row.
- This is the first time since 2017-18 that the Cardinal starts its season away from Maples Pavilion. Stanford is 23-5 all-time in the Las Vegas area.
- The 12-player roster has four freshmen, four sophomores and four juniors. Stanford is one of three power-conference programs with no senior or fifth-year player.
- Stanford returns just 25.8% of last season's scoring. Seven newcomers include transfers Ilse de Vries, the program's first Dutch player, and Inés Sotelo Míguez, its first Spanish player, plus Charlotte Tuhy.
The series
Stanford leads the series with Arizona 76-15 and has won 40 of the last 43. But the Wildcats won the last meeting, 68-61, on Feb. 23, 2024. It's just the third game between them since 1980 with the teams in different conferences. Stanford, which beat Arizona 54-53 for the 2021 national championship, plays five power-conference opponents in its nonconference schedule.
The Cardinal was picked 13th in the ACC preseason poll, as we reported last month.
