Sonoma County sheriff's detectives arrested two people in Vallejo on Oct. 19 after an investigation into a series of alcohol thefts at Sonoma Market in the city of Sonoma, Bay City News reported via SFGATE.
The investigation
Detectives identified Ionel Cirpaci, 51, as a suspect and learned he was also suspected of organized retail thefts across the Bay Area, the Sheriff's Office said.
They served search warrants at two Vallejo homes and say they recovered stolen property. Cirpaci was found with Margel Bucurcha, 29.
Investigators allege Cirpaci was wearing the same shorts he wore during the August thefts. They also seized clothing matching what Bucurcha allegedly wore.
Charges
Cirpaci was booked on suspicion of the Sonoma Market thefts and 15 other active warrants for burglary, theft and larceny from agencies including Cotati and Santa Rosa police and agencies in six other states. Bucurcha was booked on unrelated theft warrants, according to the Sheriff's Office. FOX40 also reported the arrests.
