Santa Rosa City Schools, the county's largest K-12 district, has one contested board seat on Nov. 3: Trustee Area 2. The board appointed Shaun Du Fosee interim Area 2 trustee in April, the Press Democrat reports.

The candidates

  • Shaun A. Du Fosee (Appointed Incumbent). Du Fosee's county voter guide statement says he retired as a sergeant from the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office after 32 years in the detention division and now works as a labor consultant. He points to the closure of six school sites and staff layoffs and promises to "ask tough questions," especially for students with special needs.
  • Teresa A. Medina (Program Coordinator). Medina's statement says she is an SRJC student and a program coordinator at the Roseland Community Clubhouse of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin, and a Santa Rosa city schools graduate.

Endorsements

The Sonoma County DSA recommends Medina and opposes Du Fosee.

Area 4 trustee Omar Medina is unopposed this year, the Press Democrat reports. Santa Rosa voters also decide Measure L.
