One of Fisherman's Wharf's oldest attractions is counting down. Ripley's Believe It or Not! will close its San Francisco location on Dec. 1, NBC Bay Area reports, ending a run that began on Feb. 2, 1967.
"We've had nearly 60 unbelievable years at Fisherman's Wharf, and we want these final weeks to be a celebration," Jim Pattison Jr., president of Ripley's Believe It or Not! World Entertainment, told NBC Bay Area.
Deals before the doors close
Ripley's says every Thursday from Oct. 22 through Dec. 1 admission is $19.67, a nod to its opening year. The offer is in person only and cannot be combined with other discounts. On closing day, NBC Bay Area reports, admission goes back to the original 1967 prices: $1.50 for adults and 75 cents for kids.
Oddities for sale
Some of the collection is being auctioned. NBC Bay Area lists Joe DiMaggio's crutches, a chicken-wire portrait of Janis Joplin and toothpick replicas of the Golden Gate Bridge among the items. Past visitors included Michael Jackson, DiMaggio and former Mayor Willie Brown.
If you are on the Wharf this month, note that Alcatraz tours are paused until mid-November for dock repairs.
