A former Kelly-Moore Paints store on Divisadero Street is now a cafe. Olive Juice, at 354 Divisadero St. in the Lower Haight, was slated to open Oct. 8, according to The San Francisco Standard, and its website now says "Now Open."
Who's behind it
Owner Hannah Collins Tate founded the restaurant design firm Roy Hospitality, and the cafe's website says it comes "from the team behind ROY Hospitality." The Standard says the cafe aims to avoid the "moralizing clichés of wellness culture," under the slogan "pretty healthy, always wholesome."
What's on the menu
The Standard lists smoothies, Mediterranean-inspired sandwiches, yogurt and granola, breads and coffee. A roundup from the reservation site Resto Mojo adds seasonal quiche, a dill-heavy egg salad sandwich, Greek yogurt with olive-oil granola and espresso drinks.
Patio first
The cafe is opening in stages. Service starts on the back patio, with indoor dining expected early next year, according to The Standard. The name comes from a family joke: Tate's mother says "olive juice" looks just like "I love you" when mouthed from across a room.
