Rapper Nicki Minaj joined President Donald Trump onstage at a Republican rally in Port Huron, Michigan, on Sunday, telling the crowd Trump had "changed the energy of the country," the BBC reported.

What she said

  • The pitch: "We really need all these great people to be elected, because this is a major turning point for our country," Minaj said, according to the BBC. She led chants for Trump and Michigan's Republican candidates.
  • The candidates: Trump was there for Mike Rogers, who is in a tight Senate race with Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, the BBC and the Guardian reported. Republican governor nominee John James also appeared with them, the Guardian reported.
  • The outfit: She wore a gold Gucci-branded suit, the BBC reported.

Trump's remark

Before calling her up, Trump said, "By the way, I looked at a beautiful ass before. Nicki Minaj. That's hard to miss," and added he hoped she was not "insulted," the BBC reported. The Guardian said the line followed Trump revisiting earlier comments about Ohio Sen. Jon Husted.

The BBC noted that former President Barack Obama rallied with El-Sayed on Saturday. Control of Congress will be decided in the Nov. 3 midterms.
