A two-car crash just before 8 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, sent an SUV into the front of Jolene's, the lesbian bar on the corner of 16th and Harrison streets in San Francisco's Mission District, Mission Local reported. One person was injured.

What happened

A witness who rents a studio above the bar told Mission Local he found an SUV backed into Jolene's front door with its airbags deployed, and a pickup truck with a smashed hood pulled over across the street. He said the SUV's driver, a woman, was taken away on a stretcher by ambulance; the man in the pickup appeared unharmed. Police and firefighters responded. Both vehicles were cleared by 9 a.m.

The lower part of the left entryway was smashed in, exposing a wooden beam. The front iron gate was bent inward but appears to have kept the vehicle from reaching the doors.

Repairs and reopening

Owner Jolene Linsangan estimated repairs at about $10,000. "I have to pay for this and the costs are so crazy," she told Mission Local. "I'm barely surviving over here." She hopes to reopen Thursday, Oct. 15.

As of Tuesday afternoon, SFPD had not released a report on the crash, and the cause has not been made public.
