Goatlandia, the farm animal sanctuary in Sebastopol, is bringing back its Bottle Babies Breakfast Club. The program starts Sunday, Nov. 1, and runs through Dec. 1, possibly longer, 7x7 reports. The sanctuary's homepage announces that the club "is back."
How it works
A $250 donation books a one-hour session for a small group. Sessions are offered seven days a week between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., according to 7x7.
The visits are tied to real feeding needs. About six baby goats were born in mid-October and must be bottle-fed six to eight times a day as they grow from about 4 pounds to around 40 pounds, 7x7 reports.
Where the goats come from
Executive director Ashley Armstrong-Radke told 7x7 that most of the goats Goatlandia rescues are male kids discarded by the dairy industry. Most are later adopted out, and some past goats have gone on to graze with San Francisco's City Grazing.
Goatlandia's regular group tours pause for the winter in late November, 7x7 says, so the breakfast club is one of the few ways to visit the animals over the holidays. For another Sonoma County animal outing, see our Safari West guide.
