Seven candidates are running for three at-large seats on the Sebastopol City Council on Nov. 3. Voters can pick up to three.

Who is running

  • Sandra Maurer, incumbent and vice mayor, a 38-year resident and former nonprofit director
  • Jill McLewis, incumbent and current mayor, a 12-year resident who owns the shop Eye Candy
  • Kyreen Jorgensen, clerk of the SMART board
  • James Woodruff, a welder and third-generation Sebastopol resident
  • Erin Mitchell, a Sonoma State environmental planning student
  • Ian Hoff, a structural engineer and former volunteer firefighter
  • Brandie L. Solovay, an attorney and parent

The forum

About 100 people attended a League of Women Voters forum at the Grange on Oct. 16, the Sebastopol Times reported. Solovay sent a representative, Cori Bartlow, to speak for her.

Sebastopol Commons

A big local question is the future of Sebastopol Commons, the former O'Reilly complex. The 90,000-square-foot site is for sale for $18 million. The council voted 4-1 to bring the issue back in December with an ad hoc committee. Jorgensen and Woodruff both said they want the library kept downtown.

How to vote

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Polls and vote centers close at 8 p.m., and mailed ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and arrive within seven days. You can check your registration and ballot status at sos.ca.gov/elections. California lets you register and vote the same day at a vote center.
