The corner at 1007 Guerrero St., where Tuba Authentic Turkish Restaurant served for more than a decade, is now Frenchie Wine Bar. Hoodline reported Oct. 22 that the bar has opened on the border of Noe Valley and the Mission.

The owners

Co-founders Natalia Morarasu and Joel Arias bring two backgrounds to the bar, according to Hoodline. Morarasu grew up harvesting grapes on her father's farm in Moldova. Arias grew up in Arequipa, Peru, trained at Lima's Astrid & Gastón and was later wine director at La Mar Cocina Peruana on the Embarcadero.

The name

The bar is named for the couple's French bulldog, Dolcetto, Hoodline reports, citing The San Francisco Standard, which also describes the bar as pet-friendly.

The wine

The bar's website says it focuses on biodynamic, organic and low-intervention wines from producers with "a family story behind them." Hoodline reports that every featured bottle is also for sale retail, with a 15% discount for wine club members.

Hours

The website lists Tuesday through Saturday from 4 to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m.; it's closed Monday.
