The Mission briefly went back to the Prohibition era last week. Fog City, a noir drama set during the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge, filmed on 24th Street last Thursday and Friday, Mission Local reports.

Three businesses near 24th and York got 1930s makeovers: the St. Francis Fountain, Pops and La Mexicana Bakery. Because the story is set during Prohibition, Pops was boarded up to look like a vacant storefront. Vintage cars lined the street.

Dan Pritzker (Bolden) is writing, directing and producing. Deadline reported in July that the film follows underground abortionist Inez Burns (Carla Gugino), police inspector Steven Walsh (Cooper Koch), Dust Bowl transplant Liza Orr (Sarah Bolger), blackmailing socialite Dorothy Hargrove (Miranda Otto) and her son Martin (Angus Imrie). Pritzker told Deadline: "It's a privilege to work on a story about San Francisco, a city I love."

This wasn't the production's first San Francisco location. In early October, SFGATE found the crew on Steiner Street along the eastern edge of Alta Plaza Park in Pacific Heights. Classic cars lined Jackson Street, and permits from the Film Commission described a "simulated rain scene." The film also shot in Melbourne, Australia, where a backlot at Docklands Studios stood in for 1930s San Francisco. Deadline said production would run through October. No release date has been announced.
