The Mission has a new slice shop with a New York accent. Corey's Pizza at 3505 17th St. is about six weeks old, The San Francisco Standard reported Oct. 30.
From a pickup truck to a storefront
Owner Corey Rogers grew up on Staten Island. He started making pizza during the pandemic and sold pies out of his pickup while bartending at the 500 Club on Guerrero Street, according to the Standard. The shop's own website tells the same origin story. The restaurant took over the space next door that used to be Turner's Kitchen, and photos of Staten Island's Denino's hang on the walls.
What to order
- Rockaway: clams, mushrooms and garlic-cream sauce.
- BOM: bacon, red onion and garlic cream.
- Staten Island: sausage, peppers, onions, ricotta and basil.
- Pepperoni: the best seller, the Standard says.
Whole pies run $32 to $40. Monday through Thursday there's a $23 cheese pizza deal, per the Standard.
Hours and ordering
The Standard lists hours of noon to 10 p.m. on weekdays and until 11 p.m. on weekends. The website says whole pies can now be ordered online, but slices are sold only in the shop.
