Castro Valley Unified elects trustees by area, a change it made in 2024. Three of the five seats are on the Nov. 3 ballot, and the candidate lists from the Alameda County registrar show no incumbent running in any of them.

Area 2 (two-year term)

Trustee Lavender Lee Whitaker resigned effective June 25, 2026, so this seat is for the remainder of her term, through December 2028. Candidates: Jesus Jacobo, autopilot engineer; Myla Long, planning manager and parent; Frederick Regala, construction technology manager.

Area 3 (four-year term)

The district lists this seat as vacant. Candidates: Dan Jacowitz, peace officer; Eryka N. Mathews-Cain, financial manager and parent; Glenn A. Miller, certified public accountant; Kara Wong, parent.

Area 4 (four-year term)

Incumbents Gary C. Howard and Sara E. Raymond's terms end in December. Candidates: Faith Carroll, classified substitute and parent; Brian A. Foster, retired teacher; Joseph Grcar, retired laboratory scientist.

Only voters who live in each trustee area vote in that race. The district has an interactive map on its election page to find your area.
