Piedmont voters will pick three City Council members for four-year terms from five candidates on Nov. 3.
The candidates
Tom Ramsey, the only incumbent, is a licensed architect who manages the local office of a real estate advisory firm. He has four years on the council and served seven years on the Planning Commission, where he worked on the city's Design Guidelines update.
Nancy Beninati is a supervising deputy attorney general in civil rights at the California Department of Justice, where she has worked 27 years, and teaches at UC Berkeley's Goldman School of Public Policy. She sits on the Recreation Commission, chaired the Civil Service Commission for six years and served two terms as president of the League of Women Voters Piedmont.
Adam Hundt moved to Piedmont in 2021. He spent 14 years in tech business development and operations, including at eBay and Cisco, before moving into energy and climate work. He says he wants to make it easier and cheaper for residents to electrify their homes.
Bill Reichle retired two years ago as assistant vice chancellor and chief of staff for administration at UC Berkeley, where he worked 20 years. He earlier ran a San Francisco marketing agency and has served on the Piedmont Education Foundation board. (The Exedra notes his wife is its photographer.)
N. "Sunny" Bostrom-Fleming is also on the ballot. She did not answer the Exedra's questionnaire.
Other things to know
- The school board election was canceled because the two incumbents were unopposed.
- The election costs about $5 to $7 per voter for roughly 9,000 voters, and the city budgeted $63,000, the Exedra reported.
- Voters will also decide Measure GG, which would raise the real estate transfer tax from 1.3% to 1.75%. Read our Measure GG explainer.
