On Saturday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 9 p.m., the Calle 24 Latino Cultural District will turn its corridor of 24th Street in the Mission into a Safe Trick-or-Treat Zone, according to the district's event page.

How it works

Families bring kids in costume to collect candy from storefronts along the corridor. Calle 24 is inviting businesses to decorate and hand out candy, and is recruiting volunteers to accompany families through the neighborhood. Project SF notes the route is a walk past shops rather than a single stage, which makes it a good fit for young children.

As of Project SF's Oct. 29 check, the organizer had not yet posted the list of participating businesses or the exact blocks covered; its page still says the list is coming soon. The listing pins the event at 24th and Mission streets.

Getting there

The 24th Street Mission BART station is right there, and Project SF lists Muni lines 9, 9R, 27, 33, 48 and 90 nearby.

Coming up next in the neighborhood: Día de los Muertos events, including the Mission procession.
