Lamorinda Weekly reports that the Acalanes board adopted a trustee-area plan on Oct. 15, 2025. This November, Areas 1, 3 and 5 are up. Incumbents Jennifer Chen in Area 3 and Nancy Kendzierski in Area 5 are unopposed. The district, which includes Acalanes, Campolindo, Miramonte and Las Lomas high schools, is also asking voters to approve a parcel tax. See our Measure W explainer.

The candidates

  • Stacey Schweppe was appointed to the board and is running for a full term. Her ballot statement says she has lived in Walnut Creek for three decades, graduated from Campolindo, and has held PTA leadership roles for more than 20 years. She also served on the Citizens Oversight Committee. She names student mental health and well-being as priorities and cites a state base grant she calls too low and unfunded mandates as major challenges.
  • Nithin Iyengar was elected to the Walnut Creek School District board in 2018 and 2022. His statement says his career has been in K-12 education as a math teacher, school and district leader, and philanthropy executive. He argues that AUHSD gets less money per student than most California districts and that teacher turnover has been high. His children attend Las Lomas and Walnut Creek Intermediate.

Only Area 1 voters will see this race. For logistics, see our Contra Costa voting guide.
