Walnut Creek on Ice opens for its 21st season on Thursday, Nov. 20, in Civic Park at 1365 Civic Drive. The rink stays open through Jan. 18, 2027.
Why it matters: Organizers call it the Bay Area's only outdoor ice rink with an ice slide, and it's one of the biggest draws to downtown Walnut Creek during the holidays.
What's there
Frosty's Summit Ice Slide: a 90-foot ice slide.
Fire pits around the rink.
Ice-Skating Academy lessons and hockey programs.
Littles Skates on Wednesdays for young skaters, including a visit from Santa.
A local tradition
"After 21 years, we've seen kids grow up on this ice," said Kathy Hemmenway of the Walnut Creek Downtown Business Association, according to the association's release.
Planning a visit
Ticket prices, session times and holiday hours are posted on the Walnut Creek Downtown website. Skaters should check the schedule before going, since hours can change on holidays and for private events.
