Every registered Alameda County voter got a ballot in the mail, and there are three ways to return it before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Here's what the Registrar of Voters says.

Vote in person

  • Registrar's office, 1225 Fallon St., Oakland: Open weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. since Oct. 5, plus 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, and Sunday, Nov. 1.
  • Vote centers: 20 opened Saturday, Oct. 24, and 80 more open Saturday, Oct. 31. You can vote at any vote center in the county. All are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
  • Every vote center has an accessible voting booth, according to the registrar.

Locations and hours are posted on the county's GO! page at acvote.alamedacountyca.gov/go.

Drop it off

Official 24-hour drop boxes take ballots until 8 p.m. on Election Day. No postage is needed. You can also turn in your ballot at any vote center. The registrar's outreach team is also running a "Ballot Drop Stop Tour" that collects ballots at community events. Dates are on the GO! page.

Mail it

Mailed ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 3 and arrive by Nov. 10.

Before you vote

  • Sign the back of your return envelope.
  • Berkeley, Oakland and San Leandro use ranked-choice voting, and the registrar has a practice ballot online.
  • Track your ballot by signing up at WheresMyBallot.sos.ca.gov.
  • Missed the Oct. 19 registration deadline? You can still register and vote the same day at a vote center using conditional voter registration.
