The California Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash on Interstate 80 in Vacaville early Saturday, Oct. 31.

What happened

KCRA reported that the crash happened at 2:35 a.m. on eastbound I-80 just west of Lagoon Valley Road. CHP said that, for reasons still unknown, a Hyundai Tucson overturned and blocked the eastbound lanes. Three vehicles then hit it. The Hyundai's 29-year-old driver died. His 29-year-old passenger was taken to a hospital in critical condition. A 60-year-old woman driving a Kia sedan was also hospitalized with major injuries.

Bay City News reported that the Solano County Coroner identified the driver as Greg Tobias, 29. The passenger was his wife. CHP said the couple's child was not in the car.

Fundraiser

Bay City News said Tobias' family started a GoFundMe on Saturday with an $80,000 goal for medical bills, funeral costs and support for the couple's son. Hundreds of people had given by Monday, and it was close to $60,000.

CHP has not said what caused the SUV to overturn.
