The Sunnyvale City Council meets Tuesday, Oct. 27, at City Hall, 456 W. Olive Ave., and online. Closed session starts at 6 p.m. and the regular meeting at 7 p.m. This is a preview; outcomes were not available when it was published.
On the agenda
- SB 9 housing rules (File 26-0776): an ordinance to repeal and replace the city's Dual Urban Opportunity (DUO) Housing and Urban Lot Split chapters. Recent changes to SB 9, including SB 450 and AB 1061, changed the rules for two-unit homes and lot splits in single-family zones. The ordinance would also defer and reduce some development impact fees, as SB 937 and AB 2553 require. The Planning Commission recommended it on Sept. 14.
- WeHOPE contract: reinstating and amending the city's agreement with WeHOPE for street outreach, the temporary hotel program, Dignity on Wheels mobile hygiene services and the inclement-weather hotel program. The amendment raises the cap to about $3.26 million and extends it through Sept. 10, 2027.
- Closed session: a conference with legal counsel about possibly suing a long list of fire-apparatus companies and their owners, including REV Group, E-ONE, KME, Ferrara, Spartan, Oshkosh, Pierce and BME Fire Trucks.
- The council will also recognize World Town Planning Day.
