Siesta Valley Bowl, the outdoor venue at 100 Gateway Blvd. in Orinda, has two very different nights on the schedule this weekend.

Friday, Oct. 30: Surprise Chef and Tommy Guerrero

At 8 p.m., Surprise Chef, an instrumental soul-funk quintet that formed in Melbourne in 2017, shares the bill with Tommy Guerrero. Guerrero grew up in San Francisco, skated for Powell Peralta's Bones Brigade starting in 1984 and has been playing music since the late 1970s.

Sunday, Nov. 1: Día de los Muertos

From 5 to 7 p.m., the Siesta Valley Foundation hosts a free Día de los Muertos festival. It includes Catrinas, a community ofrenda where visitors can leave a photo or a message for loved ones, local artisans and Mexican food for sale. Mariachi San Francisco plays from 6 to 7 p.m.

At 7 p.m., a ticketed concert follows with La Santa Cecilia, the Los Angeles band founded in 2007 that won a Grammy in 2014. Ritmos Tropicosmos opens. It is a seven-piece psychedelic cumbia group from Oakland. You need a ticket for the concert, but not for the festival.
