A deadly year on San Jose streets
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that the crash was the city's 20th pedestrian death and 42nd fatal collision of 2026, already above the 40 traffic deaths San Jose recorded in all of 2025, according to the city's crash dashboard. Police reported four other traffic deaths this month, including another pedestrian killed by a car near South King Road and Biscayne Way.
Police did not say whether speed, drugs or alcohol played a role. The investigation is ongoing.
