A small plane carrying two adults and a child nosedived into a San Jose street near Capitol Expressway and Excalibur Drive about 3:10 p.m. Saturday. All three survived with non-life-threatening injuries, the San Jose Fire Department and police said.

The Federal Aviation Administration told KTVU the pilot of the Cessna 177 reported "engine issues" just before the crash. FAA records show the 1968 Cessna 177A Cardinal is registered to Flying Twenty Inc., a nonprofit flight club for San Jose State University students, alumni and faculty that operates from Reid-Hillview Airport, the Los Angeles Times reported, citing ABC.

The plane did not hit any vehicles on the ground. Crews absorbed a minor fuel spill. The Highway 680 offramp to Alum Rock Avenue was briefly closed, and wreckage clearance took about three hours, NBC reporting cited by the Times said. San Jose police said drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors. The cause remains under investigation.
