Precita Park is a 2.06-acre neighborhood park in Bernal Heights, bounded by Precita Avenue and bordered by Folsom and Alabama streets. This year it got an upgrade.

The new restroom

San Francisco Rec and Park opened a prefabricated, single-stall, all-gender accessible restroom on March 6, 2026. The project also added a drinking fountain, a trash can and new landscaping next to the building. It was funded by a California State Park Specified Grant.

Rec and Park says it is putting standalone restrooms in high-use parks that need them. A similar one went in at Noe Valley Town Square in 2024.

The tile mural

The restroom is now covered in a tile mural. Rec and Park credits Precita Valley Neighbors and Precita Eyes Mural Arts & Visitors Center for working with community volunteers to make it, and the department held a celebration once it was finished.

What else is there

Rec and Park points to the butterfly garden and a colorful, gated playground. Benches line the edges so parents can keep an eye on kids. There's a grassy field for ball games and Frisbee, and dogs are welcome.

A buried creek

The park takes its name from Precita Creek. A village had grown up in the area by the 1860s, drawing water from the creek upstream and using it as an open sewer, according to Wikipedia. Between the 1880s and 1900s the creek was paved over to create Army Street, now Cesar Chavez Street.
