The City of Martinez is closing Martinez Marina parking areas and limiting shoreline access on five extreme high-tide days this winter, starting Wednesday, Oct. 28. The city's High Tide Alert says parking lots and walkways may flood or be cut off, and that the Marina won't be safe for public use on those days.

The dates

  • Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026
  • Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2026
  • Dec. 23 and 24, 2026
  • Thursday, Jan. 21, 2027

The city asks people not to visit the Marina or shoreline on those dates and to plan for other parking if they're heading to the waterfront.

Why

The city ties the closures to king tides combined with higher water levels during the El Niño storm season. Bay City News reported that the National Weather Service has a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect through Friday for bayshore areas along San Francisco Bay, San Pablo Bay and Monterey Bay.

The city calls the closures part of its storm-season safety prep. Updates are posted at cityofmartinez.org/storm.
