KRS-One, the Boogie Down Productions founder often called "The Teacha," plays two sets at Yoshi's in Oakland on Friday, Nov. 13.
Early show: 7:30 p.m. (doors 7); tickets $54 to $99
Late show: 9:30 p.m. (doors 9:15); tickets $54
Where: Yoshi's, 510 Embarcadero West, Jack London Square
Who he is
KRS-One came up in 1986 with Boogie Down Productions and the single "South Bronx," made with the late DJ Scott La Rock. Yoshi's bio says he has 20 albums, has lectured at more than 500 universities and established Hip Hop Appreciation Week, held every third week in May.
Seeing a hip-hop legend in a supper-club room the size of Yoshi's is rare. Expect the early show to go first.
