Jason Alexander says he started therapy while "Seinfeld" was still on the air, because going from a working actor to an international celebrity is something no one is ready for. He made the comments on "Build or Break," the podcast hosted by KIND founder Daniel Lubetzky.

"The transition from successful at your job to international celebrity … you're going to need some therapy," Alexander said, as Fox News reported.

A dream bigger than he planned

Alexander, born Jay Greenspan, had already won a Tony Award by 30, before "Seinfeld" made him famous worldwide.

He said it took him the better part of 30 years to learn to live with fame. He was in therapy from about age 30 to almost 50 and went back at 60. He is now 66.

George was Larry David

Alexander also said he realized about nine episodes in that George Costanza was based on co-creator Larry David. He recalled David giving him the note that George should have a "funny heart attack."
