Fairfax has two Town Council seats on the Nov. 3 ballot. Marin County Elections lists six people who filed for the race. The Fairfax Chamber of Commerce says two of them, Aubrey Harmon and Cheryl Scorza, have since withdrawn. Their names were filed with the county, so voters may still see them on the ballot.

The active candidates

Ballot designations are from the county filing list.

  • Susan Adams, retired environmental attorney.
  • Larry Bragman, attorney.
  • Matt Da Cunha, retired firefighter.
  • Doug Kelly, director of the Ross Valley Sanitary District.

The chamber held an online candidate forum in September and an in-person meet-and-greet on Oct. 19 at the Marin Museum of Bicycling. Each of the four candidates has a campaign website linked from the chamber's event page.

Clerk and treasurer

Fairfax also elects its town clerk and treasurer. Bruce Ackerman, an engineer, and Deborah Benson, an accountant and management consultant, are running for clerk. Appointed incumbent Talia Friedman is the only candidate for treasurer.

Also on the ballot

Fairfax voters will also decide Measure R, the Ross Valley paramedic tax renewal. Read our explainer: Fairfax Measure R, Larkspur Measure S and San Anselmo Measure V.

How to vote

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Polls and vote centers close at 8 p.m., and mailed ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and arrive within seven days. You can check your registration and ballot status at sos.ca.gov/elections. California lets you register and vote the same day at a vote center.
