An unknown number of San Mateo County Vote by Mail ballots were among mail stolen from a Daly City post office, Chief Elections Officer Mark Church's office said Oct. 15 after being notified of the theft on Oct. 14.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is investigating. The county said it is working with USPS and that ballot-processing safeguards ensure only one ballot per voter is counted.
What voters should do
- Track your ballot at WheresMyBallot.sos.ca.gov.
- Request a replacement online at smcacre.gov/elections/request-replacement-ballot by Oct. 27, or in person at any county Vote Center.
- Open Vote Centers now: 40 Tower Road in San Mateo; 555 County Center in Redwood City; South San Francisco Library at 901 Civic Campus Way. More open Oct. 24 and Oct. 31.
