A tanker truck carrying milk overturned on Highway 128 east of Mazzini Road near Cloverdale on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 28, sending about 4,800 gallons of milk across the roadway and into a nearby creek, according to the California Highway Patrol.
What happened
CHP officers were called to the crash at about 3:08 p.m. They found the truck lying on its side on westbound Highway 128. No injuries were reported, and no other vehicles were involved.
"Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and no other vehicles were involved," the CHP's Santa Rosa area office said on social media. The overturned truck first blocked the highway in both directions. Crews then set up one-way traffic control so drivers could pass, taking turns, while the scene was cleared.
Road reopened Wednesday night
The highway fully reopened at about 7:50 p.m., the CHP said.
Cause under investigation
CHP spokesperson Officer David deRutte told The Press Democrat on Thursday morning that the agency was still investigating why the truck overturned.
