If you plan to vote in person on Tuesday, Nov. 3, the weather should mostly cooperate. Rain is in the forecast, but it is expected to arrive after dark.

Rain Tuesday night

A low-pressure system will bring light showers and a chance of thunderstorms early this week, SFGate reported. Up to half an inch is expected between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, said Karleisa Rogacheski, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service's Bay Area office. The North Bay will get the most rain and see it first. San Francisco and the East Bay may see about a quarter-inch. Inland areas may only get a trace. She called it "a decent wetting rain."

There is about a 14% chance of thunder. "I wouldn't rule out an isolated rumble or two," Rogacheski said. Sunday and Monday should be sunny.

Stay back from the surf

The weather service has warned of dangerous sneaker waves and strong rip currents on Bay Area ocean beaches from 5 a.m. Monday through 8 p.m. Tuesday, Local News Matters reported. "Waves can sweep across the shoreline without warning, pulling people into the sea from beaches, jetties and rocks," the weather service said. Forecasters say to stay out of the water, keep off jetties, piers and rocks, and never turn your back on the ocean.

Wednesday's parade

Showers could linger Wednesday morning, the day of the Valkyries championship parade on the Embarcadero.

How to vote

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Polls and vote centers close at 8 p.m., and mailed ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and arrive within seven days. You can check your registration and ballot status at sos.ca.gov/elections. California lets you register and vote the same day at a vote center.
