Fremont is getting its Barnes & Noble back. The bookstore chain is opening at the Pacific Commons Shopping Center on Dec. 9, a Barnes & Noble spokesperson told KRON4. The chain first closed in Fremont more than 10 years ago.
The store
The new store will cover 24,638 square feet and include a cafe with indoor and outdoor seating, according to the City of Fremont's August economic newsletter. It takes over the former DSW space.
The city had said in August that the store would open in November. The Dec. 9 date comes from the company.
Pacific Commons is filling up
The city called the opening a sign that Pacific Commons can still attract major retailers even though the shopping center is listed for sale. It said the center was about 92% occupied. Other recent and upcoming tenants include Miniso, H Mart's flagship Bay Area store and Slice House.
